Success starts today

I was asked the other day how I make time to create new music, work on various music-related or design projects while also working full-time.  

I hadn't really thought about it too deeply as of late until I was asked.  At that point I began to think back about how much progress I had made in the last year with my creative endeavors...and the year before...and the year before that.  I realized that in the past few years I really have accomplished a lot and progressed farther than my small daily activities might present to the naked eye.  

I told him my secret is that I make sure that I do at least one thing everyday toward the progress of my creative endeavors.  That one thing can be as minor as returning an email or as major as executing a gig contract, but I always make sure I've done at least something to push my vision forward everyday.  

And to tell you the truth, I don't think much about the breadth or depth of my actions' impact each day.  I just make sure I keep doing them.  But what happens is that when someone asks me about how I make my progress I'm forced to reflect on those daily actions and the realization is made that--yes, I truly am making measurable progress toward my goals and vision.  

I know I make this sound simple and I also know that, with a hectic busy life, being sure to accomplish even one small task toward your creative goals can seem like a major effort.  However, my point is one needs to make the effort on a daily basis.  Each small victory strung together over time equals one large victory, however you define that victory.  

As the title of my blog suggests success can be hinged on one's ability to build positive reciprocal relationships via communication, one needs to take the same tact with one's self.  Understand who you are and how you work best building a working relationship with yourself communicated through executed actions.  So take action and start your success today.
