“The Electric Troubadour” guitar is a unique, upcycled guitar built from a discarded (and falling a part) Harmony acoustic guitar.
Here’s a couple of videos documenting this guitar build:
Here’s a couple of videos documenting this guitar build:
The original depth of the acoustic was 4 inches. I chopped that down to 2 inches, added center block as well as a rail humbucker electric guitar pickup with a three-way toggle, volume and tone knobs, in a telecaster thin line pickguard. I also added an electric guitar top-loader bridge to turn this once acoustic guitar into an electric guitar.
It has a 25.5” scale length neck (yes, it does have a truss rod). I added wood grain accentuation done with a wood burning tool across the body of the guitar, sanded it and stained it to give it a well worn look. The back of the guitar was sanded and stained to give it a cheetah-like print look.
The guitar’s high E string has a dead note or two around the tenth/eleventh fret. This is definitely more of a rhythm guitar…all other notes/chord positions work fine.
This, like all my guitar builds, has character because of the nature of the re/upcycled materials used and my desire to create artistic, yet functional guitars. That being said, you'll find there are dents, knots, scratches, chipped paint, etc. on it — all the things that give it a well-worn, well-loved, something-new-from-something-old, vibe.
All of my guitar builds contain materials sourced from old, discarded items and/or guitar parts found around my house or at nonprofit thrift shops. These parts get refurbished, revamped, and upcycled (keeping them out of landfills) using only hand held tools to turn it into a unique, one-of-a-kind, hand-made guitar that is a functional, playable instrument, and a piece of art that can be hung on the wall (guitar wall mount included with purchase).
Brief disclaimer: Purchases of any of these guitar art pieces are "as is." I won't make additional modifications to them for anyone's personal playing preferences, sorry.

About the Artist: Nick Venturella
I’m Nick V., owner of nickVguitars.
I’m a musician, artist, and author. I’ve always loved music, art, and their intersection with commerce.
I particularly love guitars. As a guitar player myself, it pains me to see older guitars thrown out when I know they have lots of functional and aesthetic life left in them.
That’s why I created my Etsy shop: to build, revamp, refurbish, and recycle discarded guitars and parts into something new, beautiful, functional, and unique. Upcycled guitars. (View the gallery here)
To the guitar lover, a unique guitar is an expression of one’s personality. Most guitar players I know want to own a guitar that no one else has, an instrument that is a reflection of their style, tone, musical taste and more. An instrument as unique as they are…a badge to put on display and an “axe” worthy to play.
nickVguitars are functional pieces of art. (Each guitar comes with a wall mount so you can hang it on the wall as a work of art).
Contact me for commissioned guitar builds, or learn more here.
Thanks for taking the time to learn about what I do.
